Blas Footage

Professional Irish singers performing at the 2012 Blas International Summer School of Irish Traditional Music & Dance.

These are the musicians I studyed with at the University of Limerick, from whom I learned the basics of Irish solo singing technique, the social contexts of song in Irish musical culture, and a small amount of the Irish language. I used their models to inform the articulations I put into my arrangements, as well as the vocal timbres I tried to achieve via harmonization and treatment of the melodies.

- Roisin Ni Ghallóglaigh (with Tom Doorley on flute, Derek Hickey on accordian, Donal Lunny on bouzouki, and Niall Carey on bodhrán).
